Sarty, Minnie Laura – Age 91 of Bridgewater passed
away peacefully on June 25, 2026. Born in Prosser Brook, NB on October
25, 1934, Minnie was the daughter of the late William and Helen
(Geldart) Ross. Her family moved to Big Harbour in Cape Breton when
she was 2 years old and she always spoke very proudly of her Cape
Breton heritage. Before her marriage she worked for 5 years at
Stone’s Drug Store in Baddeck. She and her husband, Stanton,
were members of the Bridgewater Baptist Church. Minnie and Stan
enjoyed many years of summers with their trailer, most notably at
their seasonal Yogi Bear Resort site in Kingston for 38 years. They
also enjoyed many years as members of the LaHave River Ramblers Square
Dancing Club. Minnie was a volunteer at the South Shore Regional
Hospital for 21 years and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year
during one of those years. Her sewing skills became a lifelong hobby
resulting in closets full of dresses and other items she made from
scratch. She will always be remembered for her strong love for and
devotion to her family.
Minnie is survived by her sons
Vaughn, Truro; Dwight (Beverley), Halifax; daughter Joan, Bridgewater;
sisters Jessie (Lloyd), Baddeck; Linda (Peter), Lower Sackville;
nieces, Janice and Dale; nephew Derek; 4 grandchildren, Nicolas, Chad
(Samantha), Alexander (Shannon) and Alyson (Peter-Blair) and 2
great-grandchildren, Quinn and Lennon.
She was predeceased
by her husband Stanton and her brother Jack.
Reverend Aaron Kenny will be officiating a family graveside
service at the Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial
donations may be made to the Bridgewater Baptist Church. Arrangements
