HENLEY, James Everette
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce his passing on
the evening of December 28, 2024, doing what he loved, taking care of
the horses.
He was born in Chelsea on May 26, 1935 the
only son of the late Walter and Mabel (Heim) Henley. He lived most of
his life in the community where he was born, Chelsea. His second love
after his family was horses. He started his working career working for
his father who had a lumber mill on the farm. From there he moved on
to operating heavy equipment, dozers, etc.; even working for several
years in Frobisher Bay prepping the ground for major infrastructure.
After returning home he worked on the construction of many of the
highways that were built in the 70's and 80's around the province.
Most years he could be found at the local exhibitions showing either
saddle horses, when he was younger, and draft horses in later years.
He last showed at the Queens County Fair this past September.
Survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley (Ward Croft). Sons Joey
(Cathy), Robbie (Tracy), Wade (Charlene), Rick (Barb); Daughters
Brenda Croft, Sharon (Dwayne) Whynot. 8 Grandchildren and 13 Great
Grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister
Marina and her husband Wilfred Mailman; Granddaughter Amanda Henley
and Step Granddaughter Amanda Wamboldt.
There will be no
service at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to R A Corkum Funeral
Home, Wileville. Any donations may be made to the Queens County Fair,
