Edwin Howard Conrad December 5 1953 to January 1st 2025
Edwin Conrad died peacefully at home on New Years
Day 2025, comfortable in his bed and lovingly cared for by his wife
Leslie, daughter Angela and family.
Ed was born the youngest of ten children to the late William and Madeleine (Williams) Conrad. He is predeceased by his siblings George Conrad, Marie Dorey, Christine Dares, Rosalyn Joudrey and Alma Slauenwhite; his father in law Tom Moffat and brother in law Tony Moffatt.
He is survived by his wife Leslie (Moffat) Conrad, children
Angela, Cory and Tara (Davis), his grandchildren Jada Davis, Rayah
Conrad, and Mason Davis, his siblings, Shirley Nowe, Bernard Conrad
(Bernadette), Ann Wombolt (Donny), Betty Oaks (James), in laws Peter
Davis, Kelly Clark, Barbara Moffat, Tim Moffatt, and Victoria Raine,
as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins too numerous to name.
Ed will be deeply missed by his family and friends
and his loving cat Lily who depended on him for treats many times a
day. Ed had a big heart and a good sense of humour, cherishing the
connections with those he loved. He was ‘Ga’ to
his grandkids and always there to tease, love and support them. He
felt fortunate to have his daughters, Angela and Tara and son in law
Peter close by and enjoyed his weekly Face Time talks to Calgary with
his son Cory and daughter in law Kelly and their three dogs. He loved
impromptu visits from friends and talking on the phone. Sheldon Ernst
was his very best phone buddy and Noreen his long-time friend of 50
years.
Ed began his career as a scallop
fisherman in his teens, working out o Riverport NS when the Bay was
filled with fishing boats and there was thriving fish plant to process
the catch. In later years he enjoyed working with wood in his workshop
and doing renovation projects. Memorable in his mind was the work on
The Seabreeze Inn in Hubbards with Greg Murphy, the Old Schoolhouse in
LaHave with Bill and Sheri, and The Myrtle Inn in Riverport with
Robert and Vicki. His pride and expertise was bringing old wooden
floors back to life and stripping and refinishing hardwood tables and
furniture, giving them a new life. He also built furniture from
beautiful recycled old wood that will last for many generations to
come.
Many Thanks to the Palliative team, Respiratory Specialists, The Paramedics and the VON nurses for their excellent care and assistance which enabled Ed to stay at home where he wanted to be.
