Beloved husband, father, Opa, and friend, died peacefully on
October 24th 2024.
Born in Berlin Germany (1947), he was the only child of the late
Karl and Margaret (Keller) Ziemer, Wolfgang immigrated with his
parents to Herring Cove, Nova Scotia, in 1956.
He attended B.C. Silver High School and
then onto St. Mary's University and then Dalhousie University
to finish his Master's in Sociology. While at Dalhousie, he
became involved with the development of the Nova Scotia NDP and was a
loyal, lifetime supporter to the party. His first job after university
was teaching at the Lunenburg County Vocational School where
he taught for a year. He became a Canadian citizen in 1971
and in the same year settled with his wife Brenda, in Hebb's
Cross, NS. He worked for Canada Manpower in Pictou, followed by
Liverpool for 25 years. He was also actively involved in many Queen's
County community organizations, receiving the 40 year service award
from Kiwanis.
He is survived by his
wife of 54 years, Brenda (Power) Ziemer, daughter Katie (Jamaal)
Ramoutar, son Karl (Terri Lynn) Ziemer, and two grandsons Naveen and
Ajay Ramoutar.
Wolfgang loved to
travel and easily made many friends. He valued friendships and
maintained these connections over many years. He
accepted people as they were and as a result, has many
cherished friends from all over the world.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can
be made in Wolfgang's name to the Interchurch Food Bank in Bridgewater
and Feed Nova Scotia.
