Kenneth Wayne Paul Carroll
Ken was born in Halifax on May 31, 1944 and passed away on
July 21, 2024 in North Queens Nursing Home.
During his
school years his family moved to Martin’s Point and later to
Western Shore. He attended Gold River – Western Shore
Consolidated School. From school he joined the Canadian Armed
Forces.
In 1971 he married Debbie Vaughan. They began
their married life at his posting in Ottawa. Later postings took them
to Charlottetown and Debert. Ken was also posted overseas to
Egypt.
In the mid 90’s, Ken retired from the
forces. He and Debbie returned to Western Shore for their retirement
years.
Ken was active in the Royal Canadian Legion Western
Shore, Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He enjoyed frequent visits with
friends to provide musical entertainment at Shoreham Village Nursing
Home.
Due to a diagnosis of Alzheimers for Ken and
dementia for Debbie, in 2019 they moved to Meadowbrook Manor and later
to North Queens Nursing Home.
Ken and Debbie celebrated
their 50th Anniversary on July 3, 2021. Debbie passed away shortly
after in March 2022.
Besides wife Debbie and his mother
Eva (Goodwin) Carroll, Ken was predeceased by his brother Fred Carroll
and sister Elaine Lowe.
Ken is survived by his
brother-in-law Donald Lowe, nephews Rick and Tim Lowe and their
families; Debbie’s family – Gay, Robie, Jane and
their families.
Donations can be made to
Shriner’s Hospital, Royal Canadian Legion Western Shore or a
charity of your choice. Funeral to be held at a later date.
