In Loving Memory
Brenda Lee Veinot
Brenda Lee (Durham) Veinot passed away peacefully surrounded
by love on June 8, 2024, age 56.
Brenda Lee was born November 20, 1967 in Summerside, Prince
Edward Island, to Al and Mitzi (denHaan) Durham of Wileville, Nova
Scotia. She grew up in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Manitoba,
and then graduated back in Nova Scotia where she met the love of her
life, Peter. Together they had three children, Ryan, Adam
and Patrick, and they loved watching the boys tumble and play and grow
up together.
Brenda Lee never let on her many talents, preferring instead to enjoy the moment she was in. She loved to garden and, rather than purchasing store-bought plants to pop into a pot, she would gather cuttings and sprigs and watch them flourish under her care.
Any place that Brenda Lee worked, whether the YMCA or the Wileville Market or the many in-between, she was always admired and respected for her ability to treat people with caring and patience. Her kindness and compassion extended to animals and her love of dogs. When Brenda Lee and Peter moved to Alberta in recent years, she opened a successful dog walking business, organizing and taking care of people’s pets for the day or overnight.
There were so many wonderful projects that Brenda Lee worked on but never mentioned. We knew she was artistic, seeing her painted birdhouses and rock gardens, but we never knew she painted beautiful full window winter scenes for her children every Christmas and for other family members. She also painted the entire nursery wall in a gorgeous mountain mural for her first grandson. Unlike most people, she never posted photos of these works of art on social media, nor took photos of them, preferring instead to give these gifts individually.
Brenda Lee had quite an eye for interior decorating, mixing colours and textiles in a beautiful way. She was so looking forward to the planning and decorating of her new home, with a place to garden and with details planned right down to the cupboard door knobs. Her creativity extended to refinishing furniture, with a dream of moving into her newly built house and putting her beautiful pieces at the end of her driveway to sell and have other people enjoy.
Her biggest love however, was her family, and especially her new grandchildren. Her face would simply light up when talking with them on any FaceTime opportunities. She was thrilled to have been able to see her newest grandchild before she passed.
Brenda Lee was supported by family and friends as we faced her journey together. Never would she complain, ever. She showed grace and resilience during this time, earning her nickname "Grace" from her best friend Ellen from Alberta. She was so very strong.
Brenda Lee will be greatly missed by her husband Peter of Bridgewater, NS, son Ryan (Kim) Veinot of Edmonton, AB with grandchildren Kayden and Kaysen, son Adam (Holly) Veinot of Edmonton, AB, son Patrick Veinot of Edmonton, AB, parents Al & Mitzi Durham of Wileville, NS, siblings Lawrence (Pauline) Durham of London, ON, Angela (Rob) Weld of Bedford, NS, Charlene (Darin) Jimmo of Parksville, BC, and many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved and touched deeply. Brenda Lee was predeceased by her sister, Christine Bryk of Bridgewater, NS, who passed away eight months ago.
We will miss you so much "Bun"
