Jane Gwendolen Seary – December 23, 1973 – June 4, 2024

Passed away suddenly after a long illness, Jane Gwendolen Seary, in her 51st year. Jane grew up in rural Ontario and discovered her love of the outdoors at an early age, while attending Lakefield College School. An avid canoe tripper, Jane flourished at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, where she completed an Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Recreation, Parks & Tourism and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies.

Jane was never happier than when paddling and led many canoe trips as a wilderness guide in Algonquin Park. As an instructor with Paddle Canada, she delighted in sharing her love of the water with others.

Jane was also an accomplished sailor, most notably sailing across the Atlantic Ocean in a 33-foot ketch, with her father, Peter.

In 2010, Jane embarked on a new adventure, moving to the shore of Grand Lake in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia with her husband Bob Peck. Jane was justifiably proud of the towering fieldstone fireplace she constructed herself for their new home.

Jane was a talented artist, working in various media which included watercolour, conte, natural fibre, and mixed-media. Jane drew on her love of the natural world as the inspiration for her  work, which reflected her desire to promote ecological consciousness. Her work was exhibited in shows in Ontario and Nova Scotia.

Jane had the voice of a nightingale and shared her love of music and performing with her husband Bob, who encouraged her to sing and often accompanied her on guitar. She has left a legacy of several beautiful pieces, which have been preserved on YouTube.

Jane was predeceased by her mother, Cheryl Rimer, in 2022. She leaves to mourn her husband, Bob Peck, her father Peter Seary and stepmother Fiona Smaill, uncle Richard Seary, siblings Catherine Roberts and Caroline Roberts, and extended family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
