GEORGE, Kenneth Munden MCpl CD 66 – of Bridgewater passed away at home peacefully with much love given on the 13 May 2024. He was the son of the late Munden and Helen George. He was predeceased by the sudden death of his daughter Lora on February 24, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife Katherine George (Bennett), daughter Christina and Joseph Hill (Bridgewater); Sons Thomas and Jenn (Brooklyn); Steven and Kendra (Bridgewater) Adam Arenburg (Lora) Seabright; Much loved Grandchildren Autumn, Vaughn Andrew, Scarlett, Penelope, Willa, Samuel, and Evelyn; Brothers Gerald and Doris (Ontario), Glen and Fran (Ontario) and sister Beryl (Alberta); Many nieces and nephews.

He was born in East York Township which is now Toronto on 11 July 1957. He left the city in 1975 at age 17 to join the Canadian Armed Forces, other than normal duties he served 4 years in Europe with NATO, in the Middle East in the UN and also NORAD.
After serving, he trained as a paramedic and moved his family to Bridgewater in 1991, working for Sweeny’s Ambulance Service before then becoming a funeral director for Charles and Patrick Sweeny, where he loved and enjoyed having the pleasure of working for them till 2011, over 20 years.

Ken was a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces serving in the Signals Corps; Past President of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, Bridgewater; Zone 13 Commander and then NSNU Command Service Officer. 

In 2016, he left Sweeny’s after 25 years on Dec 1st to join the Royal Canadian Legion Nova Scotia and Nunavut Command.  He so loved the opportunity to help the Veterans  RCMP and Merchant Navy and acting members of the Canadian Armed Forces. In Feb 2024, he had to resign due to illness, but not before accessing 56 million dollars’ worth of pensions and medical coverage they deserved. 

The family would graciously like to thank the entire Palliative Care team for such truly kind and supportive caring help in this journey. We the family cannot express enough gratitude to the VON nurses who came to care for Ken during this time. Their help will forever be remembered.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a graveside interment service 1:00pm Tuesday May 21, 2024 in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Ken requests no black to be worn at his service. The more color the better. He also requests no flowers, he was never a fan.

Donations in his name may be made to the Lunenburg County VON NURSES for their use, the Trevor Project, and the Bridgewater Interchurch Food Bank. A reception will be held after interment at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 on Churchill Street Bridgewater.
