It is with heavy hearts that we as a family announce the
passing of our beloved Mother & Grandmother Dorothy who passed
away Saturday May 4th, 2024, surrounded by family in her home at the
age of 68 after a prolonged illness.
Mom, along with her
late common law partner Wendell had a shared passion for the Legion
where they both spent many hours together. Mom was an active member
with the Legion for 10 plus years sharing her time with multiple
functions that were put on such as dinners and dances just to name a
few. Along with her service in the Legion, mom also gave her time when
were younger to our many friends who would come by and stay when they
needed a place to get away or when they were down and out, she became
a surrogate mother to many of our friends when they needed someone in
their corner.
Mom had a ridiculous love for the Dollar
Store and spending time in there looking for the perfect knickknack or
craft idea to bring home brought Mom so much pleasure and joy, and
right up until just mere weeks before her passing she was talking
about making a trip there to get items she needed and craft ideas that
were floating around in her head, something that she shared with Mia,
her little shadow, because where you saw one you would see the other.
Mia and Mom were each other’s biggest fans and even though
they could butt heads occasionally as stubborn strong-willed people,
the love they had for each other was immeasurable.
We saw
Mom as a selfless person worrying about everyone even when she herself
was battling and needed help, she would always ask how this person was
or how that person was making out, but nothing compared to the acts of
service she gave to her children when they needed her in a time of
need.
Mom was a huge music lover whether it was the
oldies, but goodies or country music Mom would belt out the lyrics to
her favourite songs when they came on and she didn’t care
who heard her! It was one of many favourite past times. Mom had
accomplished one of her bucket list trips with the help of family when
she made the trip to Nashville and saw the Grand Ole Opry. A trip she
loved and shared when people came to visit her for quite some time
after she arrived back home! Mom also enjoyed attending concerts and
dances which she did with her youngest, Melissa.
Mom was
the heart of our home, and she leaves behind 6 children, Shelley
(Christopher) Wileville, Billy-Joe, Bridgewater, Christopher (Stacy)
Elmwood, Adam, Truro, Amanda, Hebbville, Melissa (Tommy) Bridgewater,
Grand Children Brittany (Christopher), Alexa, Robert, Larissa, Damon,

Grandchildren Lilly, Jasper, Brielle. Siblings, Esther (Peter) Hebbs
Cross, Ann (Rodney) Springfield, Allen (Wileville), Sally (Kevin)
