It is with great sadness we announce the
passing of our father, Edson Charles Corkum, 69 of Pine
Grove. Edson was better known as "Eddy" but more
importantly known as "Dad", "Pa" or
"Grampie".
Dad fought his
short battle with cancer much the same way he lived his whole life,
with great strength, determination and courage. Anyone who knew Dad,
knew his humour and trickery was a big part of his character. Even as
our family shared some of the most tender moments of his life, he
allowed his humour to shine through bringing laughter to us all. This
trait is carried on by many of his children and even
grandchildren.
Dad was a dedicated
father, grandfather and husband, working his whole life to provide for
his ever-growing, beautiful family. He is survived by his wife Maddie
Corkum, his seven beautiful children, their partners and his pride and
joy, his grandchildren. Dad is also survived by his five sisters and
their families as well as many other loved ones.
Since Dad’s passing, we are left
to cherish our many memories of him. Dad was a man you would find in
his outfit of choice; blue jeans, black t-shirt and wool socks, even
on the hottest of summer days, which he loved the most. Dad spent
countless hours in his garage with a strong cup of tea and a
cigarette. His hours were spent fixing cars, restoring boats and
creating unique masterpieces such as metal trains and trucks. Dad was
a talented handyman who also had a knack for welding. If Dad
couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed. But out of
all the things Dad has built in his life his most cherished was his
family. Dad was always there for not only his family, but for anyone
that needed helping hand. He was a generous soul with strong hands, a
soft heart and a laugh that made you smile. He had his own signature
noise, that only he could make, and luckily, he shared it with us
until he could no longer. And never forgotten his famous sayings
"drive soft", "put me on a cup of tea, would ya?"
and most importantly "it’s a racket".
As a family we spent countless hours by his
side. We provided Dad with the tender loving care required to ensure
he could remain at home where he wanted to be, surrounded by his loved
ones until his passing.
Though Dad is gone from
our side he will never be forgotten. He will always live on in the
hearts, memories, traits and trickery of his wife, children and
grandchildren.
Our husband, father and
grandfather has now become our favourite Guardian
Angel.
"We love you Pa!"
Forever yours,
Maddie, Blair, Charmaine, Adam,
Shannon, Abby, Niki and Ally
Our family would like to extend a
heartfelt thank you to his Palliative Care Doctor, Dr. Gibson, his ER

sister, for her ear for listening, her shoulder to lean on, her words
of encouragement and her prayers when needed. She is truly one of a
