It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of our dear Eva Mae Knickle, age 93 on March 9, 2024 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a very brief illness.

Eva was born at home in Port Medway, the third oldest daughter of six children to Edwin and Edna (Dauphinee) Moreau.

Eva attended school at Mill Village, which required her and her siblings to walk two miles in all types of weather. After completing grade nine, she decided to go to work, accepting a job of house maid in Liverpool NS. Eva worked there for several years and during her stay there she met her future husband George "Donnie" and was married in Liverpool on November 9, 1951. Eventually they moved to Bridgewater, where she spent the rest of her life. She was involved in the family oil business and then worked at SSRH Nutritional Services until her retirement.

During her life, she was an active member of both the Bridgewater Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Baptist Church Ladies Group. Eva was a very kind hearted soul who would lend a helping hand to anyone and always found the good in everyone.

Her passions were fishing and playing Auction 45’s cards with her family at every opportunity with the stamina of a person many years younger.

Eva is survived by her son George (Ardith); granddaughter Nicole Hatt (Ronnie); grandson Jonathan (Angelie); great-grandchildren Amelia Hatt, Carter Hatt, Aislyn Hatt, Dahlia Knickle; sisters-in-law Donna Moreau and Margaret MacPhee; nieces Ethel Crouse (Wallace), Marion Clattenburg, Carol Ann Curry (Dave), Diane Walsh (Greg), Marina Edgar (Sandy), Marianne Knickle, Julie Robertson (Rick), Cathy Leclaire (Lou), Tina Little and Terri Ann Little ; nephews Donald Clattenburg, Michael Moreau, Mark MacPhee (Valerie) and Bob Knickle (Jacqui); several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George; infant daughter Donna; sisters Leatrice, Lilly, Alma; brothers Carman and Arthur; nephews Jerry Parnell and Michael Clattenburg.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where memorial service will be held Tuesday March 19, 2024 at 11:00am, Rev. Dr. Aaron Kenny officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial Donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation, Bridgewater Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca

As a final word, our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at South Shore Regional Hospital Emergency Dept. and surgical floor for their compassionate care. Special thanks going to Dr. Paul Saloman and nurse Melissa.
We would also like to acknowledge Angie Pane, Director of Health Services for her effort in making Eva’s stay comfortable and dignified.
