It is with great sadness, the family of Fred D. Hagen announce his sudden passing on December 5, 2023.

Fred was born in LaHave, NS on July 2, 1952 to the late Olaf and Eva Hagen. He was a proud son of Lunenburg County.

Fred is survived by his partner Heather; children Lars (Katelyn) and Rebecca, as well as his faithful companion Cooper; sisters Mary (Arnold), Linda (Roger), Johanna (Eric), Pauline (Scott); sisters-in-law Janice and Libby; brother-in-law Rob (Donna); granddaughter Hailey and several nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by his parents Olaf and Eva Hagen and his brother Helge.

Fred was one of a kind. He loved a good conversation, had a quick response and even better joke, a big smile and an even bigger heart. He was always willing to lend a hand to help one and all. He was quite simply, a great guy.

Fred was proud of his Norwegian heritage and loved all things Lunenburg County. He was passionate about hockey, in particular the Montreal Canadiens. He enjoyed boating with Heather and Cooper, spending time on Mosher’s Island, golfing, ATVing, and his most recent hobby, excavating rock from his back property, with his newly acquired tractor.

Fred was retired from the LaHave Ferry and continued with small engine repair. He was the go-to person for engine repair on the LaHave River.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. A Celebration of Life will be held at the LaHave Fire Hall on Monday December 11, 2023 from 2-4pm, with words of remembrance beginning at 2pm.

In honor of Fred, please perform an act of kindness, as Fred always did. If so inclined, a donation may be made to SHAID Animal Shelter or to a local sports charity.
