In Loving Memory of
DAVID WALTER JOUDREY – Bridgewater, NS
May 2, 1940 – November 12, 2023
At the age of 83, David ("Dave") Walter Joudrey passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Rosedale Home for Special Care in New Germany. For many years, Dave faced the challenges of Dementia/Alzheimer's and various health issues. In August, he had surgery which led to his three-month stay at the South Shore Regional Hospital before being placed at Rosedale.
Born to Walter and Violet (Croft) Joudrey, Dave is survived by his wife, Margaret ("Margie" Wamboldt), and their children: Vicki (Bradley) Hiltz, Valerie (Larry) Veinot, Angela, and Troy. His presence will be profoundly missed by his grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Cory, Tiffany, Dakota, and Ryker, as well as his great-grandchildren: Cole, Ben, and Oliver.
During his final days, Dave was reunited with his sister, Patricia ("Patsy") Dolliver at Rosedale. They were overjoyed to share this short but special time together.
In his youth, Dave was an avid baseball player and he excelled as a pitcher. He enjoyed games of pool with family and friends. Dave worked as a delivery driver for Farmer’s Dairy, for most of his working life. He and his father, Walter, delivered milk in the nostalgic era of glass bottles on doorsteps.
Dave's sense of humor was contagious, and he had a talent for telling tales about his childhood, especially his unique experiences growing up with his father who was a mortician. His grandchildren were particularly captivated by these stories.
An enthusiast of crossword puzzles and long drives to the beach, Dave often found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially when accompanied by his son, Troy, and a Tim Horton’s Iced Capp. Troy held a very special place in Dave’s heart. They had a meaningful and close relationship, one that held significant importance for Dave, especially in his later years.
In honour of Dave's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, well-wishers may make donations to Rosedale Home for Special Care in his memory. Dave’s family wishes to thank the nurses at Rosedale for providing exceptional care in his final days. Even though Dave was only at Rosedale for a brief period of time, the loving attention and the familial atmosphere of the staff were very comforting for Dave and his family.
