We are deeply saddened to announce that Christine Maria
(Durham) Bryk passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on September 21,
2023, age 57.
Christine was
born March 7, 1966 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, to Al and
Mitzi (denHaan) Durham of Wileville. She grew up in Nova
Scotia and Ontario, then began her nursing career in British
Columbia. She married Scott Bryk and together they had four
children, Max, Vanessa, Carter and Riley, and they loved watching them
grow over the years. In 2022, after living and traveling
throughout the country, she returned to her roots with her children
and settled in Nova Scotia.
Christine
has always lived a diverse and dynamic life while still remaining
present and in the moment. She never lost sight of the
importance of family. She would do anything for her children
and was so proud of them. She would make time to see her
parents, knowing they wouldn’t be around forever.
Christine was a daughter, sister, aunt, and mother, and also an ICU
nurse, triathlete, and poet. She wouldn’t just
run; she was a sponsored Triathlete in BC. She
didn’t just discover a passion for writing; she recently
published two books with a third in the works. She
couldn’t only kayak; she was in the midst of training to be
a Kayak Guide. She wasn’t just an ICU nurse; she
was approved for Travel Nursing to Africa next year. Her
energy and enthusiasm for life was incredible and she lived life to
the fullest. She was thoughtful, introspective, kind and
caring beyond measure.
Christine will
be greatly missed by her children, Max of Ontario, Vanessa, Riley and
Carter of Bridgewater, parents Al & Mitzi Durham of Wileville,
siblings Lawrence (Pauline) Durham of Ontario, Angela (Rob) Weld of
Halifax, Charlene (Darin) Jimmo of BC, Brenda Lee (Peter) Veinot of
Bridgewater and 12 nieces and nephews. All of these she
loved and touched deeply.
There will be no visitation at the Funeral
Home.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday,
October 3rd, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Saint Joseph’s Catholic
Church, 115 Pleasant Street, Bridgewater, Father Keith Billard
officiating.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to R.A. Funeral Home, Wileville, NS. Please share a memory or leave an online condolence at www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
