Barkhouse, Doris Marie – Age 71, of Bridgewater, and formerly Middle Cornwall and Dartmouth, passed away peacefully at South Shore Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 4, with her family by her side. Doris was the daughter of the late Byron and Janice Barkhouse.

Doris worked in real estate in Dartmouth before moving to Cornwall and starting her lifelong career at Michelin in Bridgewater, where she worked for almost 37 years. She was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Cornwall & District Fire Department, and enjoyed the time spent volunteering at the various events.

Doris always loved spending time with family and friends and having lots of laughs. She enjoyed doing 1,000-piece puzzles, watching Coronation Street, and going to bingo every now and then.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Tina (Chris), Italy Cross, Amanda (Byron), Middle Cornwall; grandchildren, Jess (Devin), Mount Uniacke, Sam (Ellis), Halifax, and Dominic, Middle Cornwall, and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was predeceased by her husband, Ira; brothers, Bruce and Jeff; sister-in-law, Ruby; and brothers-in-law, Ralph and Mervin.

A graveside service for Doris will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 2:00 pm in New Cornwall Memorial Gardens.    Donations in Doris’ memory may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, Middle New Cornwall Memorial Gardens, or a charity of choice.
