
The family of Melissa Rebecca Harmon, age 94, of Crousetown,
is sad to announce her passing on April 10th, 2023, at Rosedale Home
for Special Care in New Germany. Born in New Cumberland Lunenburg
County on October 3rd, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William
and Laura (Corkum) Baker.
Melissa spent most of her time
baking, cooking, gardening, and knitting for her family. She knitted
many outfits for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren when they
were babies. Melissa loved to spend time with family, including those
from the States who stayed for weeks every summer, especially the
Wagner’s. She delivered mail for years with her husband
Harold in Crousetown and the Petite area. She attended card parties in
Petite with Harold over the years in her spare time.
Melissa will be missed dearly by her family. She is survived by
daughters Linda and Marilyn and son Harold Jr. (Bubby) (Carol);
Grandchildren Dawn (Darren), Scott (Julie), Jonathan (Leanna), Bonnie,
Chad, Nick (Michelle); Great Grandchildren Ally, Lauren, Josie, Isaac,
and Quinn. She is also survived by sister Mildred (Rex), Brother Lee
(Vera), Sisters-in-Law Lorraine and Francis, and many nieces and
nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Harold Rupert Harmon,
and son-in-law Raymond; sisters Muriel, Ruth, Eva, Florence, and
Shirley; and adopted brother, Leroy.
A memorial service
will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Crousetown, on
June 24th at 2:00 pm. There will be a private family burial. In lieu
of flowers, donations may be made to South Shore Regional Hospital,
Rosedale Home for Special Care, or a charity of choice. A reception
will be held following the service at the Petite Riviere Firehall.
