It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gale Alana
(Zwicker) Crouse announce the passing of a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, aunt and great aunt. Gale passed away on February 22,
2023, at the age of 73.
Gale and her husband Merle, of
Hebb’s Cross were married for 54 years and enjoyed a simple
life filled with family, home cooking and involvement in their
community.
Gale leaves behind her mother Pauline Zwicker,
daughters Lee Ann Crouse (Ryan), Laura Pantin (Brian), grandchildren
Rory and Felix Sno-Wood, sisters Elaine Naugler (Darrell), Lynne
Schrader, Kelly Zwicker and brother Mark Zwicker and many extended
family. She was predeceased by her father Stanley Zwicker and brother
Ted Zwicker. Gale will also be missed by the many friends she made
through her early working life, church involvement, extensive
volunteer service and her many activities.
Gale the
first-born of an active farm family in Lapland, became a proud 4-H
member and was involved in the many activities that life in a rural
community brings. Gale had many stories from her time working at the
MacLeod’s Canteen and Cabins in Green Bay when Merle would
pick her up after her shift on Friday nights, and during her 10 years
working as a telephone operator at the telephone company
(MT&T).
After becoming a mom, Gale was an active
member of her community and developed many enduring friendships
through this service, which she valued greatly. She served as a deacon
of the Lapland Baptist Church, served in various positions within the
Hebb’s Cross Ladies Auxiliary, was a member of the Lapland
Cemetery Society, was a 4-H leader and member of the Lunenburg County
4-H Council. For many years, Gale baked breads, cinnamon rolls and
other goodies and sold them at the Bridgewater Farmers’
Market and kept several coffee shops supplied with sweet treats.
The family would like to thank the many nurses with the VON who
provided tremendous care to Gale over the years and are also thankful
for the staff of the South Shore Regional Hospital who provided care
and support in the hours before her passing.
Gale’s service will be held at 1:30 on Monday, February
27th in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home in Wileville, officiated by
Pastor Cathy Uhlman, a long-time and trusted family friend.
Burial will be at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Lapland (next to the
Church) after the service. A reception will follow at the
Conquerall Mills Hall – all are welcome.
In lieu
of flowers, donations can be made to the VON Lunenburg County Branch,
