OICKLE, Joan Louise- Age 87, of Bridgewater, passed away in Queens Manor, Liverpool, Nova Scotia on January 24th, 2023. She leaves behind her husband of 65 years Douglas who loved and cared for her and will miss her dearly. She is also survived by her children whom she said were her biggest accomplishments, Kerry Oickle (Irma), Jane Matthews (Ross), Sandra Smith (Peter), and Brian Oickle. Her grandchildren Ian Matthews (Erika), Kate Stone (Rick), Colin Smith (Miranda) Carla Smith (Brennan Vancuren), Trenton, Coleton and Jaydon Oickle; great grandchildren Natalie, Emily, Julia, Bria, Jacob, Jaxen and Madilyn; brother Kenneth Goulden (Judie).
Joan graduated from Bridgewater High and attended Saint John School of nursing. She later worked as a physician’s administrative assistant. Joan enjoyed winning 45’s and cribbage. She loved a good music jam and would play the piano or spoons. Joan enjoyed singing alto and was excellent at harmonizing. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She was a former Aeolian Singer and Kinette.
Joan was predeceased by her parents Ralph and Anzo Goulden, and her sisters Norma Doane, Martha Ramey, and Eleanor Mitchell.
The family would like to thank the staff of Queens Manor, Liverpool for their excellent care.
Funeral will be held on Monday January 30, 2023 at 11am in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 25 Phoenix St, Bridgewater. Pastor Paul Jensen officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
