SORETTE, Vesta Leone - The family of Vesta Leone Sorette (Crouse) are deeply saddened to announce her passing on January 19, 2023, at the South Shore Regional Hospital. 

Born in Bridgewater, Vesta grew up in Waterloo Nova Scotia and graduated from Hebbville Consolidated High School.  Following her graduation, she attended Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro and began her teaching career at Center Consolidated School in Lunenburg County. 

After marrying her husband Dennis in 1968, they moved to Dartmouth NS, where Vesta continued to teach for more than 30 years, first as part of the Dartmouth School board and then for the Halifax Regional Municipality Board before retiring as Vice Principal of Hawthorne Elementary School in 2001.  During her time as a teacher, Vesta went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Dalhousie University. 

Vesta was confident in her faith and in the promise of eternal life through her belief in Jesus Christ and was an active member of Bridgewater Baptist Church. 

She enjoyed spending time in her home "on the lake" where she and Dennis retired in 2004, gardening, playing games and visiting with friends, but most of all Vesta loved spending time with her family. 

Vesta was predeceased by her parents, Garth and Yvonne Crouse, her brother Gerald Crouse and her beloved daughter, Dennise Sorette. 

She was fiercely loved by and will be forever missed by her husband, Dennis Sorette, her daughter and son in law, Nicole and Adrian Gardner, grandson Elijah and granddaughter, Grace. 

Vesta will also be missed by her siblings – Melda (Avery) Zwicker, Lapland, Margaret Anne (Gerry) Whynot, Lower Branch, Lawrence (Marilyn) Crouse, Newcombville, Rodney (Ann) Crouse, Bridgewater and Thomas (Marie) Crouse, Waterloo, special cousins and friends Paulette and Vince Gendron and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 For anyone wishing to make a donation in Vesta’s memory, they can do so to Canadian Baptist Ministries, Bridgewater Baptist Church, or The South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation.

 Visitation will be held at R.A  Corkum Funeral Home in Wileville, NS on Wednesday January 25, 2023, from 6:30-8:30pm, masks are requested.  Funeral service at Bridgewater Baptist Church on Thursday January 26, 2023, at 2pm.  A light refreshment reception will be held immediately following the service and interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
