It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family
of Carlton Everett Woodworth, 95 of Waterloo, Nova Scotia, announce
his passing on September 26th, 2022 at North Queens Nursing
Home.
Carlton was born August 4 1927 in Newcombville, Nova
Scotia. His life lived with 95 years of charismatic wit and charm,
growing up on the family farm in Waterloo. He remained at his
ancestral home for most of his life where he raised his family,
farming into his late eighties. He had many interests; especially
farming, gardening and maintaining the family farm. You would often
see Carlton driving his ATV or tractor when you drove by. Although he
did not have a college education, he was clever and often had creative
solutions to problems on his farm and in his life. He loved hunting
and there wasn’t a piece of farm equipment he
couldn’t repair.
He was from a generation who
worked hard. He took pride in his farm, and enjoyed working the land
and providing for his family and the animals that shared it with
him.
Carlton was a family man. He loved his family. He was
a kind hearted loving individual, who enjoyed the company of friends
and family. He was always happiest when there was a large crowd at the
farm for celebrations and BBQ’s. He loved a good game of
cards, with a late night drink and snacks.
He was employed
as a school bus driver for 28 years. His family often chuckled because
errands to town often took twice as long as he was often stopped by
former students. Many just wanted to tell him how much they enjoyed
having him as their bus driver and how they remember him whistling
songs as he drove them to school. He loved knowing that he was
remembered and thought kindly of.
He was a founding member
of the LaHave River Credit Union, Bridgewater Farmers CO-OP,
Co-founder of the Bus Drivers Union CUPE Local 1441 and Newcombville
Fire Department, where he volunteered as a fireman for many
years.
Carlton was preceded in death by his father; John
(Edmund) Waterloo NS, mother, Hilda (Mosher) Kingsburg NS and his
first wife Hilda (Bruhm) Bridgewater NS.
He is survived
and will be sadly missed by his wife Greta (Eisenhauer) of 54
years.
His six children; son David Woodworth of Laconia,
son Dawson (Carol) Woodworth of Wetaskiwin AB, son Douglas (Deborah)
Woodworth of Pine Grove and son Harris (Vicki) Woodworth of
Bridgewater all from his first marriage with Hilda. Daughter Sandra
(Michael) Barkhouse of Waterloo and daughter Shelley Woodworth of
Waterloo from his second marriage with Greta.
Grandchildren, Ryan Woodworth NS, Craig (Tara) Woodworth AB,
Michael (Angela) AB, Shannon Woodworth AB and William Barkhouse NS.
Great-grandchildren: Dylan, Chase, Brianna, Landen, Gavin and
Hunter.
Although his stay at the North Queens Nursing Home
was short, the family would like to acknowledge the staff for their
care and kindness.
Memorial service will be held 11:00am
October 8, 2022 in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Pastor Doug
Mailman Officiating. Masks are still required. Interment will be held
at a later date. For now, his ashes will rest at his homestead.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North
Queens Nursing Home care of The Recreation Department or you may
honour his memory by doing an act of kindness for someone else.
