Merrill Flemming Cleversey, 93 years of age, born Sept. 10,
1928 passed away August 26, 2021 at Harbourview Haven in Lunenburg. He
was born in West LaHave and lived his entire life there until he moved
to Harbourview Haven 3 years ago. He was predeceased by his parents,
Charles and Beatrice (Conrad) Cleversey, his first wife Nita
(Himmelman) and second wife Mrytle (Collicut), brother Mars Cleversey
and sister-in-law Margarite ( Berringer-Levy) sister-in law Shirley
(Corkum); son-in-law J. Douglas Johnston; nephew Bruce Sarty.
He is survived by his daughter Marilyn Johnston Lower Ohio
Shelburne Co., grandson Michael ( Jennifer Tucker), great grandson
William of Truro; granddaughter Jennifer (Dan) Giles, great grandson
Colton of Lake Echo; son Paul Cleversey, Bridgetown; son Glen
Cleversey (Angie Sarty) Rhodes Corner grandchildren Chantelle,
Victoria, B.C. and Brandon, Halifax; daughter Sharon Barss (Terry
Mombourquette of Halifax and grandchildren Megan, Carter, and Adam
Joshua (AJ) of Fall River.
He is survived by two of his
siblings: brother Douglas Cleversey of West LaHave nieces and nephews
Karen, Connie, Ronald, and Graham; sister Leah Sarty (Everett) niece
Cheryl and nephew Craig.
Also survived by niece Ruth
Heritage (Bruce) and her son Christian of Mahone Bay.
He
worked as a painter and a carpenter. He loved to be in the outdoors
– in the woods (hunting, cutting firewood, cutting fur
boughs to make Christmas wreaths) or on the water (fishing). There
will be a graveside and committal service at St. Peter’s
Anglican Church Cemetery in Pentz on Tuesday September 14th, 2021 at
2:30pm. Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer
Society or St. Peter’s Anglican Church Cemetery in Pentz.
