McCarthy, Giffin Bowman Walter, age 70, of Conquerall Mills passed away on January 20, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born on December 4, 1950, he was the son of Lloyd and Jean (Llewellyn) McCarthy. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Wanda (Wamboldt). (They were happily married 10 days short of 50 years.); his son Derek, Crousetown; daughters Rhonda, Liverpool, and Ashley, Conquerall Mills; grandchildren, Hayden, Reegan, Seth, Kyle, Savannah, Allie, Leah, Jaxson, Janika and Rennick; brothers, Aubrey (Margaret), John (Betty), Phillip (Christine), Byron (Emily), Earl (Debbie); sister Annette (Jim) and many nieces and nephews; Mother-in-law Emily Croft; sisters-in-law, Paulette and Joanne (Robert). Besides his parents, Giffin was predeceased by his father-in-law Max Wamboldt Sr.; step father-in-law Max Croft; brothers-in-law Max Wamboldt Jr. and Vernon Crouse.

Giffin spent over 30 years with South Shore Ready Mix and loved working with Kirk’s Christmas Trees during the winter. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt, and George Jones who sang " He Stopped Loving Her Today". We all know that song is no longer true because Giffin will always love Wanda- it didn’t stop today.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the funeral service will be by invitation only. Donations in Giffin’s memory may be made to Emmanuel Pentecostal Cemetery Fund, Middlewood, or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank Pastor Brian Nelmes, Dr. Michelle Barrington, Kim Carlow-Berkley (Palliative Care), the VON, and EHS who helped keep Giffin comfortable. Thanks to the many friends and family that reached out and kept him company during his last days.

Arrangements are under the direction of the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
