CONRAD

George Randall - Voglers Cove. It is with great sadness that the family of George Randall Conrad, wish to announce his passing on January 13, 2016 in his 89th year. Randall, or Randy as he was most fondly called, was born in Voglers Cove, Nova Scotia to Laura and Alonzo Conrad. Known as "Tex" to his military comrades, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1944 and the Royal Canadian Armored Corp in 1945 and 1946. Randy met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Jean (nee Guthrie) in 1954 and settled in Sudbury, Ontario where he raised two sons, Michael Randall and Brian Thomas. He worked at Cochrane Dunlop until four years before his retirement. Randy and Jean eventually moved back to his homestead in Voglers Cove and settled in for their retirement years. He was actively involved with the United Church in Voglers Cove and was a church elder. Randy was also actively involved with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren until his passing. He was an avid sports fan, participating in curling and golfing until his later years, but continued his enthusiasm as a spectator. His favorite pass time however was crib, and for anyone who felt lucky he was always up for a good game where only a select few could outwit him. Randy passed away peacefully surrounded by his immediate family. He was predeceased by his daughter Shelvie, and brother Lester of Truro, Nova Scotia. He is survived by his beloved wife Jean; sons Michael (Deborah), Brian (Lisa); brothers Lawrence and Elliot. Randy was the proud grandfather of Melissa, Shauna, Laura, Jade and Robert; great-grandfather of Aidan, Hunter, Chase, Grace, Ben, Lily and Gabriel. He will be missed by his four-legged friend Molly. Many thanks go out to the community of Voglers Cove for being there for Randy and Jean, especially Connie, Marie and Ann. At the request of Randy, there will be no visitation or service. Memorial Donations in his memory, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to the R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where on-line condolences may be made by visiting www.corkumfuneralhome.ca
