It is with sadness the family of Jennifer "Jenny" Margaret Gunn of Bridgewater announces her sudden passing on the afternoon of July 24, 2015 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, age 63. Close family were at her side, with the prayers and presence of Pastor Percy and Cindy Lake. "Jenny was herself", thoughtful and caring, humorous, positive and wise, to the very end. Born on February 4, 1952 in New Glasgow, Pictou County, she is the daughter of Elizabeth Helen (Newman) Gunn of Shoreham Village and of the late Peter Alexander Anderson "Andy" Gunn of Pictou. Jenny grew up in Pictou on 54 Falkland Street and spent many happy childhood days at the family cottage "Seafort" on Caribou Island. A precocious and early reader she attended the Stella Maris Elementary School and West Pictou Junior High School. Jenny was a longtime member of the Pictou United Church and Sunday School attending every Sunday with her father, Andy Gunn and siblings Alex and Geoff. She was a member of many local clubs in Pictou, including the Pictou Figure Skating Club and Girl Guides. Later in life, Jenny helped her mother Betty in the well known antique store Kilmarnock House on Water Street. Jenny later lived in New Glasgow and Chester before moving to Bridgewater. Chester years were happy years for Jenny, who was a very involved member of the community; her special gifts in meeting with people and being a good friend really blossomed. She was a member of the Baptist Churches in New Glasgow, Chester and in Bridgewater. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Club in Chester and Bridgewater, a community volunteer with the nursery school at the Chester Family Resource Center and with seniors in Chester, collecting and returning library books. Jennifer moved to Bridgewater to the Pleasant Rest Home in 2001. It is here that Jenny met her dear friend Cheryl Langille and became a member of the Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Jenny was an avid Bingo and Scrabble Player and Volunteered at the Hillside Pines helping out with seniors. Jenny moved to Hillside Pines in 2010 where she was happy and had a beautiful room overlooking the gardens. Her faith and her friends in the Baptist community were the strength and center of Jenny’s adult life. Jenny is remembered for her special gift in making a difference in this world through always having a smile, greeting each person and making a difference in their day. She is survived by brother Alexander (Sharon) Gunn, Pleasantville, brother Geoffrey (Cathy) Gunn of Pictou County; dear friend Cheryl Langille, Bridgewater; nephew Adam Gunn, Montreal; niece Philippa Gunn, BC; cousins Jean (Bimmer) Dalton, Pictou, Allen (Fran) Sweet, Almeda, California, Lina (Blair) Mackinnon, Dartmouth and Danny MacLean of Ontario and her many dear friends at Hillside Pines. She was predeceased by her grandfather Alfred Newman of Polegate, England, Pictou and New Glasgow, grandmother "Maggie" (Anderson) Newman of Polegate, England, grandfather Alexander Angus Gunn of East River Saint Marys, Sherbrooke, Dawson City Klondike, Pictou and Mabel E (Anderson) Gunn of Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.A.
