It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
Joel Burton Uhlman. He was a wonderful Father, Son, Brother and Uncle.
During his journey, he had made a lot of friends and stayed in contact with many relatives in our large family. He was able to touch the lives of all the people who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He had graduated from PVEC and Kingstec. Worked different jobs over the years, and found what he wanted at Fisherman's Memorial Hospital. His favourite wing to work on was the Veterans Unit, as he really enjoyed their stories.
With Joel's dry and sarcastic humor, he knew how to make people laugh no matter the circumstance.
Joel loved fishing, gardening and sports, especially baseball and hockey. He took pride in going fishing with his son and teaching Liam about gardening, and loved seeing his son play hockey.
While he lived in New Elm over the past few years, he still had a house in beautiful Blue Rocks, which he frequented when he could. His neighbours, no matter where he was, were always nice and willing to help him.
Graveside service will be held 12:00pm Wednesday in Lone Oak Cemetery, New Elm, Pastor Royce Getson Officiating. A celebration of life for family and friends to share memories will be held from 2-4pm on Wednesday at the Michelin Social Club, Bridgewater. Memorial Donations in memory of Joel may be made to a trust fund for his son Liam through BMO Bridgewater.
Special thanks goes to his healthcare professionals he has had throughout the years. In IWK, QEII and SSRH. Thank you to our neighbour's who were always there when Joel needed them. Thank you to our community and to Joel's close friends. Your visits and calls were thoughtful and comforting.
