Ferne Carver

CARVER, Ferne Lillian - 85 of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully January 8, 2019 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Verna (Acker) Robar. Ferne was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she served on the ELCW, Ladies Aid and Stewardship, as well as participating in numerous mission projects. She was also actively involved in Cancer Society fundraising events and campaigns and was a volunteer with the Bridgewater Meals on Wheels program. As part of the military family, her and her husband Gardner lived in England, France and from British Columbia to Newfoundland and points in between. During this time, her and Gardner travelled extensively through Europe in their VW Beetle and continued travelling throughout Canada and the United States-primarily the warmer locations of Florida, South Carolina and Arizona. She was an active member of the South Shore Square Dancers as well as belonging to the Seabreeze Campers-making lifelong friends. She was a caring and compassionate person-her pride and love was her family. Ferne loved to socialize and could talk to anybody about everything. Her commitment and belief in her faith was beyond reproach and was a continual part of her daily life. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Gardner; son Brian (Ann), Lower Branch; brother Gerald (Loretta) Robar, Bridgewater; grandchildren Stephanie and Andrew, both of Halifax; many special nieces and nephews. Ferne will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorial Service will be 11:00am Monday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Pastor Paul Jensen Officiating, assisted by Rev. Willis Ott. Interment will be held at a later date. No flowers by request. Memorial Donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Sanctuary Restoration Project or the Charity of your choice.
