Theodore Woodrow Wilson

Bridgewater – Theodore Woodrow Wilson, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 at Hillside Pines with family by his side.  Ted was born in Montrose, Colchester County, Nova Scotia on January 19, 1920.   Ted is survived by his children, Edna Snyder, Ruby (Robert) Wilson-Todd, Theodora (Bruce) MacPhee and Jeffery Wilson, his grandchildren Gary Snyder, Connie Romine, Catherine Martin, Sarah and Devon Baker, 5 great-grandchildren, his sister Jeanette (Bud) McKinnon and many caring nieces and nephews.  Extended family members Ted held dear: Gail, Darrel and Christopher Spence, Michael Baker (Joanne), Randi MacPhee and Jesse Demond.   Ted was predeceased by his mother Daisy (McLellan) Wilson, his father Paige Wilson, brothers Lester, Lawrence, Malcolm and sisters Edna, Rutheen, Isabelle(Tiny), June and Joyce, his partner of 40 years Helen Yorke and the mother of his children Lillian (Belliveau) Wilson.   Ted worked for the CNR for over 40 years; the majority of his career was spent in Bridgewater where he raised his family. Retirement didn’t stop him as keeping busy was his passion. Retiring to Lower Five Islands Colchester County he spent his time working in the woods, supporting others in his community, baking for home and community events, square dancing and travelling frequently to visit family. Until moving to the Bridgewater area when he was 95, his passion was his flower gardens. He diligently and proudly tended to a large number of sedum, lilies and phlox on a daily basis.  Anyone who visited got a tour of the ¾ acre flower garden in his yard and received lessons in how to manage weeds and get plants to grow. Ted planned and catered his own birthday parties from the age of 70 to 95 and his family met yearly for the party and of course playing crib was always part of the celebration.  Crib was a favourite past time and anyone who visited with Ted was expected to play a game which continued right up to the last week before he passed (and he usually won).   Ted was known to be a hard worker and a very generous man who was much loved by his family.  As requested, there will be no service. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater at a later date.  Donations can be made to a charity of your choice.   CARD OF THANKS: Ted’s family would like to acknowledge the exemplary care and the thoughtfulness of the staff at Hillside Pines Home For Special Care during his stay there.
