Joan Crouse

CROUSE, Joan Age 94, of Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018 at Ridgewood Assisted Living, Bridgewater.  Born in Beverley, East Yorkshire, England on July 28, 1923, she was the only daughter of the late James and Emily (Spivey) Winter. Joan is survived by her daughter Janice (Donald) MacDonald, sons Wayne (Ann) and Rodney (Jill). She is also survived by grandchildren Natalie, Terry and Cheryl. Great-grandchildren Charlotte, Chloe, Devon, and Kylor. She was predeceased by her husband Gerald and son Roger.  Joan was a war bride, having married her husband in England during World War II and they subsequently came to Canada. She was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater, past president of the ladies auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, past Noble Grand of the Rebecca Lodge and was a member of several other organizations. Joan was especially known for her years of volunteer work and was proud of her seventy years at the legion, twenty-five years at the Dawson Daisy, the Bridgewater Food Bank and many other organizations. She was honoured by receiving Provincial Volunteer of The Year award in 1998. She worked many years at the French Pastry Stop and Harold’s Men’s and Boys Wear. Mom loved to socialize with family and friends and was always up for a trip, a meal out or daily coffee. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Ridgewood, V.O.N and Dr. Timothy Riding. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 12, at 1:30 in R.A. Corkum funeral home, Wileville, with Rev. Simon Davies officiating.
