The family of Barry William Colp, 57, are sad to announce a
Silent Key VE1 DO, after his sudden death on January 20, 2016 at home
in Nineveh. Born in New Germany, Barry lived in Nineveh almost his
whole life. He was the beloved eldest son of William and Grace
(Veinot) Colp, and was married to the love of his life, Judi, for 28
years. Together they had three children, and three grandchildren who
were the light of his life. Barry loved his family, his home, and his
community - having served as a dedicated member of the Hemford and
District Fire Department for decades. He was also an active HAM radio
operator (VE1 DO) and took every opportunity to share that passion,
particularly with young people in Scouts, Guides, and in schools, was
a longstanding member of the Lunenburg County Amateur Radio Club, and
did communications for the Regional EMO. Barry had a strong faith and
was a member of St. John's in the Wilderness Anglican Church in New
Germany. Barry was an avid hunter and fisher, loved being in the
woods, and was a great storyteller. He had a kind and generous heart
and was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He will
be deeply missed by his wife, Judi; his children Zac (Megan), Allie
(Will), and William (Reba); grandchildren Malachi, Harley, and Thea;
sisters Maxine (Vonnie) Simpson, Louise (Rod) Hall, and Debbie (David)
Schnare; and nieces Shauna, Savanna, Kim, and Lori-Ann; nephews Kenny,
James, and Matthew; and great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and
cousins. He was predeceased by his parents William and Grace (Veinot)
Colp, brother Ricky, nephew Tracy, and treasured aunts and uncles.
There will be visitation at R.A. Corkum's Funeral Home in Wileville
Tues Jan. 26 from 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held at St John In
The Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany on Wed Jan. 27 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PWRDF's National Youth
