Alexander Fraser
1917-2010
FRASER, Alexander - 92, of Lower Branch, Lunenburg County, passed away
Tuesday February 16, 2010 at home, with his Grandson Jason at his
side. Born in 1917 in Dartmouth, he was a son of the Late Alexander
and Elizabeth (Conrad) Fraser.
Alexander served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Corporal aboard the HMCS Ottawa from 1939-1945 where he met his wife Marion. They started their family in Edmonton Alberta and later worked in Seattle Washington, for General Steel Wares for five years before returning home to Dartmouth in 1961. He worked until his retirement for the Canadian Core of Commissionaires, two years in Albro Lake Dartmouth, 16 years at National Sea Products, Lunenburg, where he was Sergeant and Special Constable for Lunenburg County before retiring. Alex loved to go to flea markets with his Grandson Jason, and enjoyed drives around the Country Side, and was a regular coffee crew to the Metropolitan Store and the Chataway Café. He was a regular shopper at the Bridgewater Mall where he gave out candy to all of his friends. Alex will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Surviving are his Daughters Sharon Fraser, Bridgewater, Darrel Mackenzie, BC; sister Dorothy Wilson, Dartmouth; brother-in-law Edward Loomis, Calgary Alberta; sister-in-law Margaret (Locke) Fraser, Dartmouth; grandson Jason Fraser; granddaughter Shai Lyn Mackenzie; great-grandson Tyler Fraser; great-granddaughter Elizabeth Mackenzie; numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Marion; brother Bill; sisters Unis, Annie, Kay, Margaret, Harriett (Florance).
There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Wednesday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Rev. Willis Ott Officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
